Adams grew as the seventh 7-year-old living in Castle Rock Colorado. In the mid-1990s she began acting and dancing professionally at the Boulder Dinner Theatre and the Country Dinner Playhouse in Colorado. When she moved to Minnesota where she was a part of an undocumentary-style film called Drop Dead Gorgeous (1998) concerning beauty pageant contests. Following her debut on screen as a charming but snarky contestant she moved into Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. She was the wife of actor Tony Curtis from June 1951 from September 1962 to June 1951 and she was the mom of Kelly Curtis and Jamie Lee Curtis. Leigh started her career in film after signing a MGM contract in the late 1940s. She was discovered by actress and model Norma shearer. She appeared in several popular films in the next decade, like Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (1960) and Living It Up (a Martin and Lewis-film that was released in 1954).
